After the events of the Game, and his meeting with his friends, Neku is trying to get on with his life. He's finding it easier now he has people to rely on, although he does occasionally have "dark moments" where he temporarily reverts to his pre-Game self.
If he's not spending time with his friends at various locations in Shibuya, he's likely to be found at WildKat, either talking to Mr H. or sitting in silence. People who see him mention that he often seems to be looking at the door, or his phone, as if he's waiting for someone, although the identity of that person - and whether they ever turn up or not - is unknown.
Neku tries to stay away from the Udagawa Back Streets as much as possible, although he can be found there from time to time, staring at the image of the grim reaper - as if it holds the secrets to the universe. If asked, he refuses to talk about it, saying he'd rather not think about it.
